Wollemi Pines

Auctioneers are selling off some of the rarest plants in the world - Wollemi Pines. These trees were formerly thought to have become extinct in the Cretaceous period until a stand of 100 of them were discovered Wollemi National Park in the Blue Mountains near Sydney in 1994. So it was the botanical equivalent of finding dinosaurs wandering around. The plants have been cultivated at a high security nursery in Queensland and now you can buy one.
