Beach Volleyball

Guilty Olympic Pleasures

Women's beach volleyball!

Starring Natalie Cook, who's back for her fourth Olympics, having won the Bronze in Atlanta and the Gold in Sydney. (She figures the precedent has now been set for her to carry the flag in London.) The dux of her high school in Townsville, Natalie gave up studying medicine to become a professional beach volleyball player. She's won over $600,000 in prize money, plus corporate endorsements, speaking engagements, oh and there was her motivational book Go Girl!

(Like it says on the wall at the Institute of Sport in Canberra: "You don't have to give up anything you want to be an Olympian if being an Olympian is all you want.")

Since her old partner, Kerri Pottharst, has retired, Natalie's now found Tamsin Barnett. Barnett, who is 193 cm (6'4") in her bare feet, played with the indoor squad in Sydney.
