American Girl, a popular doll company, joined forces with girls' rights organization Girls, Inc. to launch the "I Can" campaign. American Girl is selling these bracelets and asking girls to take the "I Can" Promise:

I can be myself, follow my dreams, and always do my best. I can reach for the stars, lend a hand to others, and be a good friend. I can make a difference! I promise to try.

Apparently these are the very dangerous messages and the American Family Association has started a petition to stop the campaign because Girls, Inc. is "a pro-abortion, pro-lesbian advocacy group."

Ah, are you on their mailing list too? I generally ignore them, but if it's a good one I try to remember to write in and congratulate the firm in question.

I'm trying to muster some outrage at the sheer stupidity, but I'm too tired from a lengthy public meeting wherein someone claimed allowing a church to be located in our town's central business district would lead to the Aryan Nations overtaking the town. The church has no connection to the Aryan Nations. *shakes head*
