DMGO(E)

Went round to see Dr John. He lives in one of those apartments opposite the Kingston Pub. That place has improved a bit since I was there last. Dr John gave me a big box of papers from some guy who was Deputy Master General of Ordnance for Equipment (DMGO(E)). It includes his comments on Mellor, the Official Historian who wrote the Role of Science and Industry volume. Who knows, I my find something in it. It will be fun to look through anyway. It will be good to be able to read through stuff here instead of going down to the AWM or achives. He also had a lot of advice on places where I might find some more information.

Nice icon. Who is it? (Or am I supposed to be deeply ashamed that I don't recognise him straight away?) (grin)

It's General Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964), Chief of Staff of the US Army from 1930 to 1935 and the Commander in Chief, South West Pacific Area from 1942 to 1945.
